The incumbent will be responsible for the overall information systems and infrastructure that is critical for LITR to effectively and efficiently deliver services to the customers.

• Job purpose
  
  

The position exists to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure. Systems include DNS, Mail, Hosting, Bandwidth Management, Virtualization platforms just to name a few. The Senior Systems Engineer is there to support Management, Account Managers, Project Managers, Engineers and most importantly, the Client facing systems in order to create unique customer experience within LITR.

• Nature and Scope
  
  

The Systems Engineer reports to the IS Manager. You will work with senior IT engineers and developers to build and maintain above mentioned systems and applications. You will be involved with all aspects of the systems and application development process from architecture decisions to design and implementation.

We take three things very seriously: The end user experience, the stability and the long-term maintainability of the systems and applications. As the successful candidate, you must have a similar devotion to these aspects of the systems.

• Principal Accountabilities
• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure. Systems include DNS, Mail, Hosting, Bandwidth Management, Virtualization just to name a few.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Monitor application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with vendors and developers to implement some of the fixes.
• Develop and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
• Provide 3rd and 4th level support to all Network and IT Systems.
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• Support network management systems.
• Maintain system efficiency and work with developers to integrate systems.
• Make recommendations for future upgrades.
• Maintain network and system security.
• Analyze and isolate issues.
• Evaluate and modify system's performance.
• Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
• Ensure LITR's migration strategy to NFV and SDN on par with industry trends
• Design and deploy networks especially where SDN/NFV is involved.
• Establishing networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
• The design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.
• Securing network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access.
• Support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
• Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information and managing projects.
• Liaising with engineers and technical team on a regular basis.

Degree in IS or related field.

Technical knowledge of the Telecoms industry is an added advantage.
